Members Code of Conduct
As a member of the club you are expected to abide by the following code of conduct:
You must play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions.
You must take responsibility for your own actions and think about the safety of people around you, when fencing, training or officiating.
You must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
You should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions and, if possible, inform us if you are going to be late or absent.
You must wear suitable kit that conforms to the appropriate safety standards for training and tournaments as defined by British Fencing, and/or (if stricter) as we announce.
You must respect other people’s kit and equipment, as well as your own.
You must pay any fees for training or events at the first session in full. Payments are non-refundable.
You are not allowed to smoke anywhere in or around the venue or whilst fencing at competitions.
You are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind in or around the venue or whilst fencing at competitions.
Parents and Carers: Code of Conduct
As a parent or carer of a Junior Member at Bryant Blades Fencing Club you are expected to abide by the following code of conduct:
Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.
Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
Never force your child to take part in sport, even fencing.
Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of all.
Respect other people’s equipment, including any kit on loan from Bryant Blades (which should be washed, maintained and returned in good condition).
Coaches and Volunteers: Code of Conduct
All coaches, club officials and volunteers at Bryant Blades must:
Consider the well-being and safety of participants before the development of performance.
Develop an appropriate working relationship with participants based on mutual trust and respect.
Promote the positive aspects of sport (e.g. fair play).
Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.
Follow all the guidelines laid down by the British Fencing Association and Bryant Blades.
Never exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.
Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibited substances.
Encourage participants to value their performances and not just results.
Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.
Support the children’s involvement in fencing and help them to enjoy their sport.
Use correct and proper language at all times.
Encourage and guide performers to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.
Disciplinary
ANY behaviour which may constitute a breach of the Code of Conduct, whether by a Junior Member, Senior Member, Parent/Carer or volunteer is liable to be investigated by the Secretary and/or the Committee of the Club. Further, in the event that a breach of the Code of Conduct is established the Committee is entitled to determine and apply such sanction as it sees fit, including suspension or termination of Membership.
